WE LOVE FOOD

We both come from strong Mediterranean traditions where food is revered and talked about all day. So, is of little surprise that we spend considerable time talking about food and eating it! I found my match in heaven in you, understanding and appreciating wholesome food unafraid to experiment with new flavours and the juxtaposition of ingredients resulting in mini explosions of flavour resonating inside for hours after a meal: when the salt hits the cranberry in the granola, when eating risotto and you get that subtle hint of Croatian truffle oil, the freshness of freshly cut parsley and the punch from the parmesan, the moment of divine intervention when lemongrass and cardamon softly whisper as the lemony chicken and the well defined coconut flavoured rice are gently slipping down or when the hot chilly slaps the avocado and the toasted sourdough declares peace to both.

You have embraced my GF, low sweet, super food outbursts and I have tremendously enjoyed the re-introduction of meatballs. From King Cod, to Thai Chicken, Quinoa/Rice Bolognese, Mushroom Risotto, your Mighty Portuguese Cod and countless Yannoiçe with the all important Dutchy Original we have certainly not starved.

Our love for coffee has led to a vast production of sweet companions ranging from bite size snacks such as energy balls with banana & peanut butter to more substantial desserts such as GF banana or apple cake and black bean brownies. Our brekkies have been so delicious and filling that they have often made their way to lunch and dinner from Chia and Yannola Granola to Hygge in winter and a thousand interpretations of egg and avocado on toast.

Afternoons have been frequently powered by superfood smoothies which without a fail all must contain raw chocolate and raw vegan protein powder mixed with a healthy dose of frozen berries. Our food habits have been easily adapted to the different climates and locations we find ourselves in: tuna pasta in Lisarica and the 'Dakko Way of Life' in Greece.

As for dinner, this is the holliest of our meals. We have our favourites and some new ones on the go on their way to perfection (see 'lahanodolmathes'). We are aware that we must both snap out of habit as we can go on and on and on eating the same dish (not to mention wearing the same clothes); the entire spring 2020 will be remembered as the Yannoiçe Season. Every night we made a huge bowl of salad with Dutchy original potatoes, spicy Portuguese Sardines in a tin from Waitrose, softly boiled eggs, santini tomatoes from M&S and lamb or roman lettuce hearts with roasted seeds and capers. Your Mighty Portuguese Cod is a proper treat as is my Chicken Thai. We love red and short grain brown rice with chicken thighs, fish or just veggies with pieces of Greek feta springled on top of wilted spinach.

Life with you is sumptous, delicious hitting all the right notes!
